Lada

Lada is a music manager who has built her identity around one artist and one release. When the musician is found dead hours before the album goes live, she refuses to let the process stop.

She takes control of the room because control is the only way she knows how to deal with fear. The harder reality pushes back, the harder she tries to organise it.

In this crisis she becomes the situational mother of the room — the one who organises, commands, and tries to hold everyone inside a version of events she can still control.

We are looking for a Black woman with a mature, distinctive presence. Not polished or conventionally glamorous — someone whose face can carry authority, exhaustion, intelligence, and vulnerability at the same time.

Lada should feel like someone who has spent years holding people, careers, and situations together. Her authority should come naturally from her presence rather than from aggression or physical dominance.

We need an actor who can carry authority without simply playing “strong.”

Lada’s performance is built around a gradual loss of control. She begins precise, functional, and focused. She makes decisions, gives instructions, and tries to turn panic into something manageable. But that control is a defence mechanism, not stability.

The cracks should appear slowly — through rhythm, silence, breath, physical tension, interrupted thoughts, misplaced aggression, and small failures to remain composed. Her breakdown should never feel like one sudden dramatic explosion.

The performance must hold conflicting qualities at the same time: care that becomes control, loyalty that becomes denial, fear disguised as authority, and vulnerability hidden beneath constant action.

She should never become a simple antagonist. Even at her most manipulative, we need to feel that she is desperately trying to protect something she cannot accept has already ended.

The camera will stay close and handheld, leaving very little space to hide behind theatrical gestures or editing. Small changes in attention, posture, silence, and tone will carry as much weight as dialogue.

The actor needs to be comfortable with extended scenes, heavy dialogue, emotional continuity, and a naturalistic performance built primarily through reaction.
